Werterbereich

Werterbereich is a term used in German to denote the set or interval of possible values that a quantity, variable, instrument, or system can take. It describes the admissible or defined value range for a quantity in a given context and is closely related to concepts such as domain, codomain, and measurement range. The standard spelling is Wertebereich, but Werterbereich may appear as a variant in some texts.

In mathematics and statistics, the term can refer to the range of a function, i.e., the set of values the function can output. In engineering and metrology, Werterbereich refers to the permissible value interval for a parameter, sensor, or control variable. It differs from the measurement range (Messbereich) of an instrument, which denotes the actual observable limits imposed by hardware, and from tolerance bands in technical specifications.
