Webauthenticatie is the process of verifying the identity of a user attempting to access a website or web application. It ensures that the individual is who they claim to be before granting them access to resources or functionalities. This is a fundamental security measure to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.

The most common form of webauthenticatie is username and password verification. Users provide their credentials, which are then checked against a stored database. However, this method can be vulnerable to various attacks, such as phishing and brute-force attacks.
