Wanli
Wanli is a term used in Chinese history and geography. In historical contexts, it most prominently refers to the Wanli era of the Ming dynasty, which lasted from 1573 to 1620, named after the era name Wanli adopted for the reign of the emperor Zhu Yijun. The Wanli Emperor ruled from 1572 (some sources list 1573) until his death in 1620. The era is associated with a long initially prosperous reign, followed by fiscal strain, administrative factionalism, and increasing pressures at the borders as China faced internal and external challenges.
