The Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure, commonly referred to as WLTP, is an international standard for measuring the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of light vehicles. It was developed by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and is designed to provide a more accurate and consistent measure of a vehicle's real-world performance compared to previous standards such as the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).

WLTP is based on a combination of laboratory testing and real-world driving data. It consists of two test cycles: the Urban Demand Cycle (UDC) and the Extra-Urban Demand Cycle (EUDC). The UDC simulates urban driving conditions, while the EUDC represents highway driving. The test is conducted on a chassis dynamometer, which simulates the driving conditions of the vehicle.

One of the key features of WLTP is its use of a rolling road, which allows for more accurate measurement of fuel consumption and emissions. This is in contrast to previous standards, which relied on steady-state testing. WLTP also includes a cold start test, which simulates the conditions of a vehicle starting from a cold engine.

The WLTP standard has been adopted by many countries around the world, including the European Union, Japan, and China. It is expected to replace the NEDC as the standard for measuring fuel consumption and emissions in light vehicles. The adoption of WLTP is part of a broader effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.
