Võimendustegur

Võimendustegur refers to the gain factor in Estonian, a fundamental concept in electronics and signal processing. It quantifies how much an electronic device amplifies a signal. Essentially, it's the ratio of the output signal's magnitude to the input signal's magnitude. This can be applied to voltage, current, or power. For instance, a voltage amplifier with a võimendustegur of 10 will produce an output voltage ten times larger than the input voltage.

The võimendustegur is often expressed as a dimensionless number, but it can also be represented in decibels (dB) for logarithmic scales, which are particularly useful for measuring large ranges of amplification. A higher võimendustegur indicates a greater amplification. Conversely, a võimendustegur less than one signifies attenuation, where the output signal is weaker than the input.

This factor is crucial in designing circuits for radio receivers, audio systems, and various measurement instruments.
