Växiväärä

Växiväärä is a Finnish term that translates roughly to "growth distortion" or "growth anomaly." It describes a condition affecting plants, particularly trees, where their growth pattern is significantly and abnormally altered. This can manifest in various ways, including twisted trunks, stunted or excessive branching, abnormal wood formation, and unusual leaf or needle development.

The causes of Växiväärä can be diverse. Environmental factors play a significant role, such as extreme weather conditions, soil deficiencies, or exposure to pollutants. Physical damage, like that caused by heavy snow, wind, or animal browsing, can also trigger such distortions as the plant attempts to compensate and repair itself.
