Väsnä

Väsnä is a term that appears in a very limited number of historical or dialect Finnish texts. It is not part of standard modern Finnish and is seldom used in contemporary language. The normative Finnish word for “present” in the sense of attendance is läsnä, and related forms include läsnäolo meaning presence or attendance. In most modern references, väsnä is treated as a nonstandard or archaic variant spelling of läsnä, or as a regional dialect form that has largely fallen out of use.

The attestation of väsnä is sparse, and there is no consensus among scholars about its exact historical development. Because of its rarity, there is little formal analysis of its morphology, semantics, or etymology in major Finnish grammars. When it does occur, it is typically considered a spelling variant rather than a distinct lexical item with a fixed, separate meaning.
