Väritulostus refers to the process of producing images and text in color on a physical medium, typically paper. This technology is a fundamental aspect of modern printing and communication, enabling the visual representation of information in a way that black and white printing cannot achieve.

The most common methods for color printing involve inkjet and laser technologies. Inkjet printers work by spraying tiny droplets of liquid ink onto the paper. These inks are usually CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black), which can be combined in various proportions to create a wide spectrum of colors. Laser printers, on the other hand, use a laser beam to create an electrostatic image on a drum, which then attracts toner particles. These toner particles are transferred to the paper and fused into place by heat. Color laser printers also utilize multiple toner colors, typically CMYK, to achieve full-color output.

Color printing is essential for a vast range of applications, including photographs, marketing materials, books, magazines, signage, and personal documents. The quality of color reproduction is often measured by factors such as color accuracy, gamut (the range of colors that can be reproduced), and resolution. Advances in color printing technology continue to improve these aspects, leading to more vibrant, realistic, and detailed printed outputs.
