Vältytä
Vältytä is a Finnish noun that refers to a defensive structure, typically a short wall or barrier used to provide protection against direct assault or to shield a particular area from visibility or exposure. The term is derived from the verb “välttyä,” which means to evade or escape, and the suffix “-tä” that nominalises the word. In historical usage, vältytäs were often constructed in castles, forts, and other fortifications during the medieval and early modern periods.
