Vypadáte

Vypadáte is the second person plural present tense form of the Czech verb vypadat, meaning to look or appear. The form is used when addressing more than one person, and in Czech the formal singular address also uses the same form, since the formal you is represented by vy. The informal singular form is vypadáš.

In usage, vypadáte is typically followed by an adjective or adjective phrase that describes appearance or impression. Common examples include: Vypadáte unavení (You look tired), Vypadáte skvěle (You look great). It can also be used more broadly to express an impression about someone's state or situation, such as Vypadáte jako profesionálové (You look like professionals).

Vypadáte is a versatile construction for both statements and questions. For questions, you can ask: Jak vypadáte dnes? How do you look today? Alternatively, Jak vypadáte po té cestě? (How do you look after that trip?) In everyday speech, speakers may choose different phrasing depending on context, but vypadáte remains the standard form for addressing the addressee in plural or in formal address.

Notes on nuance: vypadat is often interchangeable with zdát se or působit when commenting on appearance or impression, but vypadáte is specifically tied to observable appearance or presentation. It does not convey certainty about inner qualities; it describes outward looks or surface impression at the moment.
