Vyöhykelannoitus

Vyöhykelannoitus, also known as zone fertilization or band application of fertilizer, is a modern agricultural practice where fertilizer is applied in narrow bands or zones near the plant roots rather than being broadcast uniformly across the entire field. This method is designed to optimize nutrient delivery to crops, improving nutrient use efficiency and potentially reducing the overall amount of fertilizer needed.

The principle behind vyöhykelannoitus is to place the nutrients where the plant can access them most readily during critical growth stages. This is often achieved by using specialized fertilizer applicators that can precisely deposit the fertilizer in strips, typically a few centimeters to the side and below the seed row during planting.
