Vulcans are a fictional humanoid species in the Star Trek franchise, native to the planet Vulcan. They are known for their long lifespans, scientific acumen, and a cultural emphasis on logic and emotional control. Physically, Vulcans resemble humans but typically have copper-based blood that gives a blue-tinted appearance, along with distinctive ridged brows and calm demeanor.

Culture and philosophy drive much of Vulcan life. Central to their identity is the practice of logic, rational inquiry, and the suppression of volatile emotions to avoid violence and impulsive decisions. This tradition traces to Surak, a key figure who guided Vulcans toward a path of disciplined self-control during a period of internal upheaval. Vulcans often engage in meditation and rigorous education, and they participate in rituals designed to maintain balance between intellect and feeling. They are also known for the mind meld, a telepathic technique that allows two minds to sharing thoughts or memories, typically performed with consent due to its intimate nature.

Vulcans are members of the United Federation of Planets, collaborating with other species in exploration, diplomacy, and defense. A notable element of their history is the Romulan split: a faction that embraced more emotional expression departed Vulcan society and founded the Romulan Star Empire, with Romulans depicted as their political and cultural successors.

In popular culture, Vulcans appear across Star Trek series and films. They are often portrayed as the archetype of logic and restraint in interstellar relations, with Spock being one of the best-known examples.
