Voolukanaleid

Voolukanaleid is a term used in hydrology and engineering to refer to a structured network of channels that conducts liquid from an inlet to an outlet while distributing flow among multiple pathways. The concept applies to natural systems such as river deltas, glacier-fed channels and lava tubes, as well as engineered networks found in microfluidic devices, cooling systems and soil moisture research.

In practice, voolukanaleid encompasses a range of geometries, from tree-like branching to looped networks. Modeling typically uses network theory, graph-based representations or continuum approaches, with attention to channel diameters, connectivity, tortuosity and flow regime (often laminar at small scales).
