Viðmælandarnir, also known as the "Speakers" or "Orators," were a group of prominent Icelandic poets and scholars active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They played a significant role in shaping Icelandic literature and cultural identity during a period of national revival, known as the *Nýja tíminn* ("New Era"). The movement emphasized the preservation and celebration of Icelandic language, history, and folklore, often drawing inspiration from the country’s Viking Age heritage.

The core members of Viðmælandarnir included poets like Jónas Hallgrímsson, Einar Benediktsson, and Steinn Steinarr, as well as scholars and critics such as Jónas Kristjánsson and Jón Árnason.
