Visibilitywhat is a theoretical construct used in information visibility and digital media studies to describe the measurable extent to which a piece of content, an issue, or a policy is visible to a target audience within a given platform. It integrates the dual aspects of exposure (how many users encounter the item) and discoverability (how easily the item can be found through search, recommendations, or navigation). The concept is intended to capture not just raw reach but the likelihood that users will perceive and interpret the item as relevant.

Measurement and components: Visibilitywhat combines several indicators, including reach and impressions (exposure), ranking position in feeds or search results (algorithmic visibility), and contextual relevance to the audience (topic relevance). A simplified model can be expressed as: Visibilitywhat = f(Reach, Discoverability, Relevance), where each factor is scaled 0–1 and combined multiplicatively to reflect their interdependence.
