Vishnuprayag

Vishnuprayag is a town and a nagar panchayat in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. It is located at the confluence of the Alaknanda River and the Vishnu Ganga River, which is also known as the Dhauliganga River. This confluence is considered one of the five sacred confluences, or Prayags, of the Alaknanda River. The town is situated at an altitude of approximately 1,372 meters above sea level.

The Vishnuprayag temple is a significant pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple's history is intertwined with the legend of Sage Narada meditating here and Lord Vishnu appearing before him. The confluence itself is revered, with pilgrims often performing rituals and taking a holy dip in the sacred waters. The surrounding landscape is characterized by steep hills and the roaring rivers, offering a dramatic natural setting.
