Virtsatiehyissä refers to the urinary tract, which is the system of organs responsible for producing, storing, and eliminating urine from the body. It consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.

The kidneys are bean-shaped organs located on either side of the spine. They filter waste products and excess fluid from the blood to produce urine. Urine then travels down the ureters, which are two thin tubes, to the bladder.

The bladder is a muscular, hollow organ that stores urine. When the bladder is full, it signals the brain, creating the urge to urinate. Urination, also known as micturition, occurs when urine is expelled from the body through the urethra, a tube that connects the bladder to the outside of the body.

The urinary tract plays a crucial role in maintaining the body's fluid and electrolyte balance. Infections or blockages within the urinary tract can lead to various health issues, such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney stones, and incontinence. Symptoms of urinary tract problems can include pain or burning during urination, frequent urination, and blood in the urine. Medical attention is often required to diagnose and treat these conditions.
