Vingilótë

Vingilótë is the Quenya name for the ship of Eärendil the Mariner in J. R. R. Tolkien’s legendarium. In Sindarin it is commonly known as Vingilot. The vessel is described as a large, seaworthy ship on which Eärendil, bearing the Silmaril, sails from Middle-earth toward Aman seeking aid against Morgoth. The Silmaril’s light shines from the ship, acting as a beacon across long distances.

In the narrative, Eärendil’s voyage is undertaken to plead with the Valar to intervene in the wars
