Viillostan

Viillostan is a fictional parliamentary republic located on the western coast of the northern continent of Norelia. It borders Ardentia to the north and the Kelmaran states to the east, with a coastline along the Valen Sea. The capital and largest city is Veridium. The official language is Viillostanese; minority languages include Ardanian and Kelmarian. The population is about 5.8 million and the currency is the viil.

Government and politics: Viillostan has a constitutional republic with a bicameral legislature—the National Assembly and the Senate. The President is the ceremonial head of state; the Prime Minister is head of government. Elections occur every four years. The state emphasizes civil liberties, rule of law, and fiscal transparency. There are 12 cantons.

History: The modern state emerged in the 19th century from a federation of cantons and gained formal independence in 1878 from Ardentia. It joined the United Nations in 1945. Since the late 20th century, Viillostan has pursued market-oriented reforms and regional integration.

Geography and climate: The country ranges from the Stirn Mountains in the north to fertile plains in the south. The Viir and Solara rivers run through the interior. The climate is temperate, with alpine conditions in highlands. Protected areas cover about 12% of the territory.
