Vigalondo

Vigalondo, fully Ignacio “Nacho” Vigalondo, is a Spanish filmmaker and writer born in 1977. He rose to prominence with Timecrimes (Los cronocrímenes, 2007), a low-budget science-fiction thriller that uses a time-travel premise to explore causality and suspense. The film earned international attention for its inventive structure and economical storytelling, helping establish Vigalondo as a notable voice in European genre cinema.

His subsequent works include Extraterrestrial (Extraterrestre, 2011), a Spanish science-fiction comedy about an alien encounter; Open Windows (2014), a techno-thriller presented largely through screens and webcams and starring Elijah Wood; and Colossal (2016), an English-language monster film starring Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis that blends personal drama with a surreal, city-scale threat. These titles reflect his tendency to blend genres, incorporate meta-narrative ideas, and work across both Spanish and international productions.

In addition to feature films, Vigalondo has directed short films and music videos and has contributed to television and other media projects.
