Viestintäpubsub

Viestintäpubsub refers to a messaging pattern used in software architecture. It stands for publish-subscribe. In this pattern, senders of messages, known as publishers, do not send messages directly to specific receivers, known as subscribers. Instead, publishers categorize messages into classes without knowledge of which subscribers, if any, exist. Similarly, subscribers express interest in one or more classes of messages and receive only the messages that are of interest to them, without knowledge of which publishers, if any, are sending them.

This decoupled communication model offers several advantages. It promotes loose coupling between different parts of a system, meaning publishers and subscribers can evolve independently. Publishers can add new message types without affecting existing subscribers, and subscribers can be added or removed without impacting publishers. This makes systems more flexible, scalable, and easier to maintain.

Viestintäpubsub is widely used in various applications, including real-time updates, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems. For example, in a news application, publishers might be news agencies that publish articles, and subscribers could be users who have subscribed to specific topics like sports or technology. The pub/sub system ensures that subscribers receive relevant articles without the news agencies needing to know who is subscribed to what. This asynchronous communication model can improve performance by allowing publishers to send messages quickly without waiting for subscribers to process them.
