Vesinikperoksid

Vesinikperoksid, also known as hydrogen peroxide, is a chemical compound with the formula H2O2. It is a clear, colorless liquid that is slightly more viscous than water. Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent, meaning it readily accepts electrons from other substances, causing them to be oxidized. Higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide are used in industrial settings. It is employed in the pulp and paper industry as a bleaching agent and in the textile industry for bleaching fabrics. It also finds use in chemical synthesis and as a component in rocket propellants. The reactivity of hydrogen peroxide requires careful handling and storage to prevent accidental decomposition or hazardous reactions. Its decomposition products are water and oxygen, which are environmentally benign.
