Versorgungform

Versorgungform is a term used in the German health and social care system to describe the form or modality in which care and services are provided to a person. It includes where the care takes place, the organizational setting, and the intensity and coordination of services. The designation of a Versorgungform helps structure care planning, discharge management, and reimbursement by insurers. It also signals the expected responsibilities of providers and the level of support required by the client.

Typical Versorgungformen include ambulante Versorgung, where care is delivered outside of inpatient facilities (for example, home health nursing and outpatient medical treatment); stationäre Versorgung, which occurs in inpatient settings such as hospitals or care facilities; and teilstationäre Versorgung, which combines elements of both, such as day clinics or partial inpatient care. In addition, there are kurzzeitige (short-term) and vollstationäre (long-term or permanent) Pflegeformen in Pflegeeinrichtungen, as well as Tages- oder Nachtpflege, which provide care and support during daytime or nighttime hours. Häusliche Versorgung refers to home-based services, often including ambulante Pflege. Betreutes Wohnen describes living arrangements with varying levels of support while maintaining independence.

The form of Versorgung influences funding and eligibility, particularly in statutory health insurance (GKV) and long-term care insurance (Pflegeversicherung) in Germany, and it requires coordination among physicians, nurses, social services, and family members. Regional regulations and payer policies can affect how Versorgungformen are defined and reimbursed.
