Verschlusswege

Verschlusswege is a German term used, in technical and scientific texts, to describe the routes or mechanisms by which something is closed or occluded. The word combines Verschluss (closure, occlusion, seal) and Wege (paths, routes). It is used across several disciplines to refer to the different ways that a conduit, vessel, duct, or system can be blocked, isolated, or sealed.

In medicine and biology, Verschlusswege describe how bodily lumina or vessels are occluded. In interventional radiology and vascular surgery, closure can be achieved by mechanical means (clamps, plugs, vascular clips), by implants (coil embolization, vascular plugs), by chemical sclerosants, or by thermal methods (coagulation).
