Veroilmoitusprosessi is the Finnish term for the tax return process. It refers to the annual obligation for individuals and companies in Finland to declare their income and assets to the Finnish Tax Administration (Verohallinto). This process is crucial for determining an individual's or company's final tax liability for the preceding year.

The process typically begins in early spring, with taxpayers receiving pre-filled tax return forms based on information already held by the tax authorities from employers, financial institutions, and other sources. Taxpayers are expected to review this pre-filled information for accuracy and completeness. They must also report any income or deductions that are not automatically included, such as certain business expenses, capital gains, or foreign income.

The deadline for submitting the tax return varies depending on the taxpayer's category, but it generally falls in May. After the tax return is submitted, the Verohallinto processes the information and issues a final tax assessment, known as a tax decision (veropäätös).
