Verekeemiaanalüüs, commonly referred to as a blood chemistry analysis or blood biochemistry test, is a laboratory examination of blood serum or plasma to measure the levels of various chemical substances. These tests provide crucial information about the body's metabolic state, organ function, and overall health.

A typical blood chemistry panel includes measurements of electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, and chloride, which are vital for fluid balance and nerve function. Glucose levels are assessed to screen for diabetes or monitor its management. Kidney function is evaluated by measuring creatinine and blood urea nitrogen (BUN). Liver function tests, including enzymes like ALT and AST, as well as bilirubin, help detect liver damage or disease.

Other common components include calcium, important for bone health and muscle function, and proteins like albumin, which reflect nutritional status and liver production. Lipid profiles, measuring cholesterol and triglycerides, are important for assessing cardiovascular risk.

These analyses are performed on a blood sample, usually drawn from a vein in the arm. The results are interpreted by a healthcare professional in the context of the patient's medical history, symptoms, and other diagnostic findings. Deviations from normal ranges can indicate a wide range of conditions, from mild imbalances to serious diseases, guiding diagnosis and treatment.
