Verdensarvkomiteen, officially known as the World Heritage Committee, is the governing body of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention. Established in 1976, its primary role is to inscribe sites on the World Heritage List, monitor the status of inscribed properties, and decide on the use of the World Heritage Fund. The committee is composed of representatives from the States Parties to the Convention. Membership is for a renewable term of six years, with one-quarter of the members elected each year.
