Ventregenerering, also known as vent washing or fume scrubbing, is a process used to remove pollutants from exhaust gases before they are released into the atmosphere. This environmental control technology is crucial for industrial facilities, power plants, and other sources of emissions to comply with air quality regulations and minimize their impact on human health and the environment.

The fundamental principle behind ventregenerering involves bringing the contaminated exhaust gas into intimate contact with a scrubbing liquid, typically water or a chemical solution. This contact allows for the transfer of pollutants from the gas phase to the liquid phase. The type of pollutant dictates the specific scrubbing technology and the chemical composition of the scrubbing liquid. For example, acidic gases like sulfur dioxide are often removed using alkaline solutions, while particulate matter can be captured by water droplets.

Various types of ventregenerering systems exist, each designed for different applications and pollutant types. Common designs include packed towers, spray towers, and venturi scrubbers. In packed towers, the gas flows through a bed of packing material that increases the surface area for gas-liquid contact. Spray towers involve spraying the scrubbing liquid into the gas stream, creating droplets that capture pollutants. Venturi scrubbers utilize a high-velocity gas stream to atomize the liquid, achieving efficient scrubbing.

The captured pollutants are then removed from the scrubbing liquid, often through further treatment processes, and the cleaned gas is released.
