Venices
Venices are the plural form of Venice, used to refer to more than one city or town named Venice. The best known is Venice, Italy, the historic city in the Veneto region built on a group of islands linked by canals and bridges. It developed as a major maritime power during the Middle Ages and Renaissance and is renowned for landmarks such as the Grand Canal, St. Mark's Square, St. Mark's Basilica, and the Doge's Palace. The name Venice derives from the Latin Venetia, in turn from the Veneti, an ancient Adriatic people.
