Venenkanülen
Venenkanülen, also known as intravenous cannulas or IV catheters, are medical devices used to establish venous access. They are typically made of a flexible plastic tube that is inserted into a vein, usually in the arm or hand, to allow for the administration of fluids, medications, or blood products directly into the bloodstream. The insertion process involves a needle that is initially used to puncture the vein and guide the cannula. Once the cannula is in place, the needle is withdrawn, leaving the flexible tube in the vein.
Venenkanülen come in various sizes, indicated by a gauge number, with lower numbers representing larger diameters.
After insertion, the Venenkanüle is typically secured in place with tape or a dressing to prevent displacement.
