Vektorkujundus, also known as vector graphics, is a method of creating digital images using mathematical equations. Unlike raster graphics, which are composed of pixels, vector graphics consist of points, lines, curves, and shapes defined by mathematical formulas. This fundamental difference provides vector graphics with several distinct advantages.

The primary benefit of vector graphics is their scalability. Because the images are defined by mathematical equations rather than a fixed number of pixels, they can be resized to any dimension without losing quality or becoming pixelated. This makes them ideal for logos, illustrations, and designs that need to be used at various sizes, from business cards to billboards.

Vector graphics are created and edited using specialized software such as Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, and CorelDRAW. These programs allow designers to manipulate individual points and paths to construct complex shapes and designs. Common file formats for vector graphics include SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics), AI (Adobe Illustrator), and EPS (Encapsulated PostScript).

Another advantage is their smaller file size compared to high-resolution raster images, especially when dealing with simple shapes and solid colors. This makes them efficient for web use and storage. Vector graphics are also easily editable, allowing for changes to colors, shapes, and line weights without degrading the image. They are widely used in graphic design, web design, animation, and technical illustration due to their flexibility and quality retention.
