Vektoranalízis

Vektoranalízis, often translated as vector calculus, is a branch of mathematics that deals with differentiation and integration of vector fields, primarily in three-dimensional Euclidean space. It is a crucial tool in physics and engineering for describing phenomena that involve quantities with both magnitude and direction. Key concepts include scalar and vector fields, which assign a scalar or vector value to each point in space, respectively.

Fundamental operations in vector calculus include the gradient, divergence, and curl. The gradient of a scalar field produces a vector field pointing in the direction of the greatest rate of increase of the scalar field. The divergence of a vector field measures the extent to which the field is expanding or contracting at a point. The curl of a vector field describes its rotation or circulation at a point.

Vector calculus also encompasses line integrals and surface integrals. Line integrals allow for the calculation of quantities along a curve, such as the work done by a force field along a path. Surface integrals extend this to calculating quantities over surfaces, for example, the flux of a vector field through a surface.

The fundamental theorems of vector calculus, such as Green's theorem, Stokes' theorem, and the divergence theorem, establish relationships between these different types of integrals and differential operators. These theorems are powerful tools for simplifying calculations and understanding the behavior of vector fields. For instance, Stokes' theorem relates a surface integral of the curl of a vector field to a line integral of the field around the boundary of the surface. The divergence theorem connects a volume integral of the divergence of a vector field to a surface integral of the field over the boundary of the volume. These theorems are widely used in electromagnetism, fluid dynamics, and other areas of applied mathematics and physics.
