Veilward

Veilward is a town in the eastern region of Eldoria, situated along the Mist River. It serves as the administrative seat of Veilward District and has a population around 9,500. The town's name derives from frequent morning fog.

Perched on a limestone escarpment, Veilward overlooks the river valley. The area comprises farmland to the west and woodlands to the east. The climate is temperate, with misty mornings and regular rainfall.

Founded in the 11th century as a caravan stop, Veilward grew into a regional market town. A medieval fortress stood near the river until dismantled in the 16th century. It later joined a regional confederation for coordinated defense and trade.

Veilward is governed by a mayor and a twelve-member town council elected for four-year terms. It hosts district offices, courthouse, and planning council.

The economy centers on trade, timber, and textiles. The weekly Veilward Market draws merchants from across the region. River traffic and a light rail spur connect Veilward to neighboring towns.

Guilds such as the Weaver's Guild and Timbermen's Guild organize craft production. The annual Festival of the Veil celebrates local history and the town's foggy mornings. Education is provided by a public school and a small lending library.

Notable sites include the Gate of Dawn, the Clocktower, and Veilwood Forest on the outskirts. The town preserves several historic houses around the Market Square.
