Vauquelin
Louis-Nicolas Vauquelin was a French chemist who lived from 1763 to 1829. He made foundational contributions to analytical chemistry and the study of minerals, and is best known for the discovery of two elements, chromium and beryllium, as well as for advances in mineral analysis and metal isolation.
In 1797, while analyzing crocoite, a lead chromate mineral, Vauquelin identified a new element. He named it
In 1798, while examining the mineral beryl, Vauquelin isolated an oxide containing a previously unknown element.
Beyond these discoveries, Vauquelin conducted extensive research on mineral compositions and improved methods for their chemical
Vauquelin’s legacy extends to the naming of a lunar crater, Vauquelin, in his honor. His work helped
