Vastuvõtutestimine, also known as handover testing or acceptance testing, is a critical phase in software development and project implementation where the completed system or project is formally inspected to ensure it meets the specified requirements and is ready for operational use. This process typically occurs at the transition point between the development or construction phase and the operational phase, ensuring that all stakeholders—including clients, end-users, and project managers—are satisfied with the delivered product.

The primary goal of vastuvõtutestimine is to verify that the system functions as intended and aligns with the agreed-upon specifications, contracts, or business needs. It involves testing the system in its final environment, often with real-world data and scenarios, to identify any defects, inconsistencies, or missing functionalities. Unlike earlier testing phases such as unit or integration testing, which focus on technical correctness, acceptance testing emphasizes user satisfaction and business value.

During this process, a test plan is usually prepared in advance, outlining the criteria for acceptance, the scope of testing, and the roles of participants. Key activities may include functional testing (checking core features), performance testing (ensuring efficiency under expected loads), security testing (verifying protection against threats), and user acceptance testing (UAT), where end-users validate the system’s usability. Documentation, such as user manuals, training materials, and system specifications, is also reviewed to ensure completeness.

If defects are found during vastuvõtutestimine, they are documented and addressed through corrective actions before the system can be formally accepted. Once all requirements are satisfied and issues are resolved, the project is typically signed off, marking the transition from development to live operation.
