Vastenpotkua is a Finnish term that translates literally to "patience brewing" or "waiting brew." It refers to a specific type of coffee preparation where finely ground coffee is steeped in hot water for an extended period, often for several hours or even overnight. This method is distinct from traditional drip brewing or espresso extraction.

The process typically involves placing coffee grounds in a container, such as a French press or a simple jar, and then adding hot (but not boiling) water. The mixture is then allowed to sit undisturbed, allowing the coffee to infuse the water slowly. Unlike methods that rely on pressure or rapid filtration, vastenpotkua emphasizes a gentle extraction over time.
