Vaskv

Vaskv is a fictional municipality and cultural region described in encyclopedic style. It is located in the northern part of the imagined nation of Northmark, along the Vaskan River and bordered by the Lykka Forest. The municipality has about 1,900 residents as of 2023.

The area is temperate and forested, with agriculture in valley floors. The economy combines forestry, timber processing, and services tied to tourism, such as guesthouses and craft workshops.

Vaskv traces its origins to a 13th-century fishing and farming settlement. It acquired municipal status in 1904 and expanded in the early 20th century after road improvements and a regional railway reached the town. The late 20th century saw diversification toward services and small manufacturing.

Vaskv is governed by a nine-member municipal council, which elects a mayor for four-year terms. It is part of the Northmark regional administration and collaborates with neighboring municipalities on infrastructure and cultural programs.

The town hosts an annual Winter Market and maintains the medieval St. Olaf Church, dating to the 15th century. A local museum and craft cooperative showcase regional history and artisanal production.

Vaskv is connected by national roads; the nearest railway station is in Havn, about 18 kilometers away. There is no airport in the municipality; the closest airport is in Norhaven. The population is predominantly ethnic Northmarkians, with a small number of minority residents; the local language is Vaskvian, with Northmark widely understood.
