Varnfjord

Varnfjord is a fictional location, a fjord situated in the northernmost reaches of the imaginary continent of Aeridor. It is characterized by its dramatic, steep cliffs that plunge directly into the frigid, dark waters of the Northern Ocean. The climate is harsh, with long, severe winters and short, cool summers. Vegetation is sparse, primarily consisting of hardy mosses, lichens, and a few stunted, wind-battered trees clinging to sheltered crevices.

The fjord is home to a small, isolated population of people known as the Varns. They are a seafaring community, their lives intricately tied to the ocean and its resources. Their settlements are small and clustered, built from stone and driftwood to withstand the relentless winds. Fishing is their primary industry, with their diet consisting mainly of various types of fish, seals, and seabirds.

Historically, Varnfjord has been largely overlooked by the wider world due to its remote location and harsh environment. It is a place of ancient legends and folklore among the Varns, tales often speaking of the immense power of the ocean and the spirits that inhabit its depths. The terrain surrounding the fjord is rugged and mountainous, largely unexplored and considered dangerous by outsiders. Access to Varnfjord is primarily by sea, with the fjord itself being navigable only during the brief summer months when the ice recedes.
