Varausgradientin, often translated as charge gradient, refers to a spatial variation in electric charge density within a material or system. This concept is fundamental in electrostatics and electromagnetism, as it directly influences the electric field and potential. A non-uniform distribution of charges, where the concentration of positive or negative charges changes from one point to another, creates a charge gradient.

The presence of a charge gradient necessitates the existence of an electric field. This field originates from the region of higher charge density and points towards the region of lower charge density, attempting to equalize the distribution. Mathematically, the electric field can be derived from the charge density distribution.
