Valuutapaaria

Valuutapaaria refers to the exchange rate between two different currencies. It represents the value of one currency in terms of another. For example, the EUR/USD pair indicates how many US dollars are needed to purchase one euro. The first currency listed in a pair is known as the base currency, and the second is the quote currency. The exchange rate tells you how much of the quote currency is equivalent to one unit of the base currency.

The value of a currency pair is influenced by a multitude of economic, political, and social factors. These include interest rates set by central banks, inflation levels, economic growth prospects, political stability, and market sentiment. Changes in these factors can lead to fluctuations in the exchange rate, making currency trading a dynamic and complex field.

Currency pairs are primarily traded in the foreign exchange (forex) market, which is the largest and most liquid financial market globally. Traders and investors buy and sell currency pairs to speculate on future price movements, hedge against currency risk, or facilitate international trade and investment. The most commonly traded currency pairs are known as major pairs, which involve the US dollar and other major global currencies. Minor pairs involve currencies that are not the US dollar but are still from major economies. Exotic pairs consist of one major currency and the currency of an emerging market.
