Valtimoihin

Valtimoihin is a locality in the municipality of Nurmes in North Karelia, Finland. It is situated approximately 25 kilometers north of the town center of Nurmes. Historically, Valtimoihin was part of the municipality of Valtimo, which merged with Nurmes in 2020. The former municipality of Valtimo was known for its strong connection to nature and its relatively sparse population. The name "Valtimo" itself is believed to derive from the Finnish word "valta," meaning power or dominion, possibly referring to the historical significance of the area.
