Vahukustutussüsteeme, also known as foam fire suppression systems, are a type of fixed fire fighting equipment designed to extinguish fires involving flammable liquids or materials that burn with a low-burning residue. These systems work by discharging a foam concentrate mixed with water. The foam forms a blanket over the burning surface, which suppresses the fire by separating the fuel from the oxygen and by cooling the fuel.
The foam concentrate is stored in a tank and is mixed with water in a proportioning device.
