Vahanams

Vahanams are divine vehicles associated with Hindu deities. Each god or goddess has a specific vahana, which is often an animal or a mythical creature. The vahana is not merely a mode of transport but also symbolizes the deity's power, characteristics, and cosmic role. The association between a deity and their vahana is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology and iconography.

For instance, Lord Shiva's vahana is Nandi, the bull, representing strength, loyalty, and dharma. Lord Vishnu's vahana is Garuda, the eagle-like divine bird, symbolizing speed, power, and Vedic knowledge. Goddess Durga's vahana is typically a lion or a tiger, signifying courage, ferocity, and protection. Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god, rides a mouse, which represents his ability to overcome obstacles and his control over even the smallest of creatures.
