VOCkibocsátást refers to the emission of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). VOCs are a group of carbon-containing chemicals that are found in both indoor and outdoor environments. They are a diverse group of compounds that can be emitted from a wide range of sources, both natural and man-made. Natural sources include vegetation, while man-made sources are more varied. These include the evaporation of solvents, fuels, and the use of paints, coatings, and cleaning products. Many consumer products also release VOCs during their use, such as air fresheners and personal care products.

The release of VOCs into the atmosphere can have significant environmental and health implications. In the environment, VOCs can react with nitrogen oxides in the presence of sunlight to form ground-level ozone, a key component of smog. Ground-level ozone is a respiratory irritant and can damage vegetation. Some VOCs are also directly toxic or carcinogenic to humans. Exposure can occur through inhalation, ingestion, or skin contact. Indoor air quality can be particularly affected by VOCs from building materials, furniture, and household products, leading to symptoms like headaches, dizziness, and respiratory problems. Regulations and emission controls are in place in many regions to limit VOC emissions from industrial processes and consumer goods.
