VNIST

VNIST, or the Vietnam National Institute of Standards and Technology, is the national metrology institute of Vietnam. It was established in 1993 to promote and develop metrology and standardization activities in the country. The institute plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and uniformity of measurements, which are essential for various sectors such as industry, trade, science, and technology.

VNIST is responsible for the calibration and verification of measurement standards and equipment used in these sectors. It develops and maintains national standards for various quantities, including length, mass, time, electric current, temperature, luminous intensity, and amount of substance. These standards are used as references for calibration and verification activities throughout Vietnam.

The institute also provides technical assistance and training to improve the metrological infrastructure and capabilities of organizations and individuals in Vietnam. VNIST collaborates with international organizations such as the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) to stay updated with the latest metrological practices and technologies.

VNIST is headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam's capital, and has regional offices in other major cities to facilitate its services to the entire country. The institute's work is governed by the Law on Metrology and Standards of Vietnam, which outlines the roles, responsibilities, and authorities of VNIST and other stakeholders in the metrology and standardization sector.
