Võrgukaabel

Võrgukaabel, also known as Ethernet cable, is a type of electrical cable used in wired computer networks. It allows devices to communicate with each other by transmitting data signals. The most common type of võrgukaabel is the twisted pair cable, which consists of pairs of insulated copper wires twisted together. This twisting helps to reduce electromagnetic interference, ensuring clearer data transmission.

Võrgukaabel comes in various categories, denoted by "Cat" followed by a number, such as Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and Cat7. Higher category cables offer better performance, supporting faster data transfer speeds and higher bandwidth. For example, Cat5e is suitable for Gigabit Ethernet, while Cat6 and above are designed for 10 Gigabit Ethernet and beyond. The maximum length of a single segment of standard võrgukaabel is typically 100 meters.

The ends of a võrgukaabel are usually terminated with RJ45 connectors, which are standardized plugs that fit into corresponding ports on network devices like computers, routers, and switches. These cables are essential for establishing wired network connections, providing a stable and often faster alternative to wireless connections. They are widely used in homes, offices, and data centers for their reliability and performance.
