Uzbeki

Uzbeki is a small rural settlement located in the Karmana District of the Tashkent Region in northern Uzbekistan. It lies approximately 120 kilometers northwest of Tashkent city and is situated on the banks of a tributary of the Syr Darya River, which provides irrigation for the area’s agricultural activities. The terrain around Uzbeki is characterized by gently rolling foothills and fertile alluvial plains that support the cultivation of cotton, wheat, and a variety of fruit trees.

The settlement has an estimated population of around 3,500 residents, according to the most recent census data. The community is predominantly ethnic Uzbek, with a local culture that reflects the broader traditions of the Tashkent Region, including traditional music, dance, and cuisine. Uzbeki operates under a local administrative council that reports to the district authorities in Karmana.

Historical records indicate that Uzbeki was founded in the late 19th century as a result of the Russian Empire’s effort to develop agricultural settlements along the river valleys. During the Soviet period, the village was organized into a kolkhoz (collective farm) that specialized in cotton production, which remains an important crop in the area today. Following Uzbekistan’s independence in 1991, the settlement transitioned to a more market-oriented agricultural economy while maintaining its traditional community structures.

Key public facilities in Uzbeki include a primary school, a community health clinic, a library, and a cultural center that hosts local festivals and events. The settlement’s economy remains largely agrarian, supplemented by small-scale trade and services that cater to the needs of its residents and surrounding rural areas.
