Uudelleenäänitykset, often referred to as ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) or looping, is a post-production process in filmmaking and television where dialogue is re-recorded in a controlled studio environment. This is done to replace original dialogue that may be unclear, contain unwanted background noise, or to change the performance or meaning of a scene. Actors re-perform their lines while watching the scene on a screen, matching their lip movements and timing as closely as possible. The re-recorded dialogue is then mixed with the original soundtrack.

ADR is a crucial tool for filmmakers to ensure audio clarity and to correct any issues that may have arisen during the initial shooting. It can be used to fix technical problems like microphone hum or background sounds from the filming location. More creatively, it allows for adjustments to a character's emotional delivery or even subtle plot changes after principal photography has concluded. The process requires skilled actors and sound engineers to achieve seamless integration with the original footage. In some cases, ADR might also be used to dub dialogue into a different language for international distribution, though this is a more extensive form of voice-over work. The goal of successful ADR is for the audience to be unaware that any dialogue has been re-recorded.
