Utsender

Utsender is a Norwegian term that denotes the entity that sends something. Depending on context, it can refer to a person or organization that initiates a transmission or shipment, effectively the sender. The word signals the role of initiating communication or dispatch, as opposed to the recipient.

In telecommunications and electronics, utsender commonly refers to a transmitter, i.e., a device or system that generates and broadcasts signals such as radio, television, or data communications. It is part of a transmission chain that includes the utsender, the transmission medium, and the receiver. In technical Norwegian documentation, utsender is used to describe equipment capable of emitting signals, and specifications may cover aspects like output power, frequency range, and modulation.

In logistics and commerce, utsender denotes the party that dispatches goods to a recipient, equivalent to the consignor or shipper in English. On shipment documents, the utsender’s name and contact details identify the sender, while the recipient—mottaker—receives the goods. The term emphasizes responsibility for the shipment’s initiation and handling up to delivery.
