Urlimagepng

Urlimagepng is a descriptive term used to refer to PNG image data that is accessed or delivered via a URL. It is not a formal standard or file format in its own right, but a label for workflows, libraries, and tools that work with PNG images over the web.

In client-side web development, a URL to a PNG file is used in image elements, CSS, or data-fetching scripts. The browser issues an HTTP(S) request to the URL, receives the image with a content type of image/png, and decodes it for display. Server-side code may fetch the same resource to obtain the PNG bytes or to proxy it to clients.

PNG is a widely supported raster image format known for lossless compression and support for transparency. A PNG file begins with a signature and consists of chunks that describe image metadata, pixel data, and ancillary information. It supports full-color images with 8-bit alpha channels and can store palette-based color information as well as grayscale data.
